When not in school, camps the place to be!
Building off of our school and community based programs, our camps meet kids where they are at and help them to discover their love of the arts. We welcome all children regardless of there skill level.

A little bit about us: We believe in sustainable, affordable and quality arts education programs.
Sustainable: We believe in recycle, reduce, reuse. From art projects to costumes, we look to see what we have and use our imagination (with the kids of course) to create. We ask parents to provide a lunch because you know what they will eat, this helps cut food waste and we provide snacks that are not only healthy but get voted on by the kids. We are sustainable with the products that we purchase for our camp and try to always be aware of our carbon foot print.
Affordable: CDE is a not-for-profit and our partnership with WPLC, allows us the affordable rent. We pay our teachers well, with keeping our overhead low, without buying access item. We have CTA and walking field trips and visitors to camp that also help with our fee structure. We believe that having an affordable camp promotes diversity. We try to keep our fees affordable, which is why we encourage you to pay with fee free when possible.
Quality Arts Education Programs: From our founding in 2001, we've believed that arts have the ability to change the world and arts education instills life long learning. We believe that every child should have the right to a quality arts education regardless of their background. Our teaching artists all have background checked and teach with our Chicago Public Schools programs. Several of our juniors counselors have grown up in our programs.
Screen Free: Our camps are screen free unless we are showing the kids a short video (until 15 minutes) or a picture of what they are learning. Kids can bring devices to camp but are not allowed to use them unless contacting caregivers or taking a photo. We want to unplug. During aftercare, with permission from caregivers, campers can use them with timelimits.
Talk with us: We believe in developing relationships with caregivers and the camps. During drop off and pick up, we will check you in and out and tell you about your campers day, share photos with you and share a friendly smile.
We believe in building commUNITY through the arts "one story, one voice, one person" at a time.
