SARA MASLANKA (ARTISTIC DIRECTOR) is a performer, choreographer and teaching artist native to the Chicagoland area. She began her dancing training in ballet and flamenco at young age, under the direction of Valerie Barsky. Sara received a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Pedagogy from Columbia College Chicago and a Masters of Science in Dance Science from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, UK. Since her studies, Sara has been committed to the practice of bridging art and science. As a performer and choreographer, that loves to blend dance, theatricality and comedy to her works. Sara values a collaborative, devising process that incorporates research, discussion and play. As a teaching artist, Sara uses her dance and health-wellness background to build community and empower individuals. With CDE, Sara has created Doggy Dreams (2015), Love, Loss and Longing (in collaboration with Michelle Shafer) and Consumed.
